South Africa pays tribute to the fearless Human rights activist George Bizos.
According to his family, he passed away on Wednesday afternoon from natural causes at the age 92.
Mr Bizos was born in Greece then moved to South Africa with his father in 1941.
Mr Bizos was prominently known for his fight against the Apartheid system, as a human rights activist and lawyer. He was also good friends with South African leaders including Nelson Mandela.
Mr Bizos was Mandela’s attorney during the Rivonia trial and also defended Chris Hani and Steve Biko at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission .
Mr Bizos spent most his life fighting for human rights, he also represented family members of those who were killed for fighting against Apartheid.
In 1999 he was honored with the order for meritorious service by Nelson Mandela among other achievements.
He also used George Bizos Saheti scholarship and bursary fund to touch South Africans.
