Capitec Bank clients received notifications that Cash purchases were made using their accounts.
However, Capitec Bank SA has assured it’s clients that they will be reimbursed.
We are aware of a technical issue between us & another bank that has caused Capitec clients who transacted on this bank’s card machines to be double deducted. Our IT team is working to rectify the issue. The transactions will be reversed within the next 24 hours.

More info on issue: The double deduction was due to a technical issue by another bank & was outside of our control. We are taking this very seriously & are working with the responsible bank to swiftly rectify the issue. Again, we apologise for the inconvenience to our clients.

Nedbank recently released a statement that card transactions that were processed on Monday were re-processed in the early hours of Friday. Capitec cardholders who happened to use Nedbank card machines in South African Supermarkets including Shoprite were mostly affected. It is still unclear how many banks were affected by the transaction error.
