Renowned Radio host and TV presenter Bob Mabena has sadly passed away on Monday 10 August 2020 due to a heart condition . Chairman of Power 98.7 confirmed his passing “He had been admitted on Saturday and was discharged this morning. On the way home with Mrs Mabena he started experiencing some more pains, they drove back to the hospital,when I arrived in hospital he was in ICU. I was with Mrs Mabena and we were called into a room where they pronounced that he has passed on”. He lost his battle from a long time illness and died at the age of 51.
The legend began his career more than 30 years ago, he was a singer ,DJ and ventured into television. He hosted numerous shows on TV including My life in Music on Mzansi Magic and Unplugged joy of Jazz on eTV to name a few. He joined numerous media houses, he was also part of of the biggest radio stations in South Africa which includes Metro FM, Kaya FM and Power 98.7 amongst many. He released few albums and won an Award at the South African Music Awards(SAMAs).
South Africa lost an asset, he played an important role in Education,his non-profitable organisation Bop Foundation provided free and quality education to young people. Bob Mabena recently lost his grandmother who succumbed to Covid-19 related complications.
His Unique voice and smile will forever remain in the hearts of South Africans which he served without seizing.
