sez_foundation in collaboration with their sponsors and stakeholders, namely, Ndalo Hotel, Buscor, MEGA, Standard Bank, First National Bank and Wiggle Tunes to, hosted a Charitable Business Seminar in Mbombela on the 4th of March at the Civic Centre Hall.
This business seminar was aimed at equipping local entrepreneurs as well as young people who are looking to start their own businesses with skills and information on how to start their businesses and keep them sustainable and functioning which gives the business the longevity that is required.
The keynote address of the seminar was delivered by Dr. Norah Fakude from Buscor which is a bus service which transports communters in the province of Mpumalanga.
In her keynote addressed she emphasised a few important points:
- She emphasised that there is a great need to create dreamers in our country and not just give for the sake of giving.
- She touched on the youth unemployment rate in our country which highlights the fact that job creation is imperative as more young people will soon be looking for employment.
- She asked a question, “who will create the half a billion jobs that are needed worldwide if nobody wants to be an entrepreneur?”
- She went on to give a solution by saying, “to meet the challenge of half a billion jobs, our country must push for young people to be entrepreneurs.”
One profound statement in her address was that we need to shift our dialogue from talking about finding and creating jobs for young people in the country to talking about young people inventing jobs in communities all around South Africa.
If two young people start businesses in their communities, they will create job opportunities for the other young people who are sitting at home with the necessary skills yet no work experience.
Entrepreneurship is our only weapon to slay the beast called unemployment!
