With so many rape cases going on in South Africa, the only thing that would console a victim is getting justice. But how would one get justice if we have uncaring police officials to report to?
A mother from Cape Town made five attempts to report the rape of her 3-year-old daughter. She reported the case at Harare and Khayelitsha police stations without any success. She found a police officer willing to help her on the fourth day she tried to report.
The 43-year-old alleged perpetrator was arrested. Sadly, that is what she and her daughter had to go through for justice.
There is a lot of unresolved rape cases the media knows nothing about. Besides facing rape, victims have to deal with careless police. It is saddening that a rape victim will have to go through other encounters on top of the fact that they were raped.
