Bloemfontein Celtics have released the date of their adjudication on the Nedbank Cup saga.
On the final day of the Nedbank Cup competition, which Mamelodi Sundowns won 1-0 against Bloemfontein Celtics. An odd action took place when Mamelodi Sundowns attempted to introduce a fierce defender Tebogo Lingerman who was suspended for the game. Lingerman had 4 yellow cards incurred during PSL matches.
The team realized late, that Lingerman was prohibited from playing any game due to numerous yellow cards and stopped the substitution. However, Tebogo Lingerman was already on the teamsheet.
According to the NFL 2020 suspended ”Be dressed in their game uniform and they may not take part in any warm-up activities”. It also indicates that ”If a player’s name appears on the teamsheet, he will be deemed, for the purpose of these rules, to have participated in the match except if a member club member removes a player’s name from the team sheet before the match”
Bloemfontein Celtic lodged a formal complaint against Mamelodi Sundowns. The matter was sent to the South African Football Association (SAFA) due to its urgency. The Siwelele side has confirmed Friday the 25th of September 2020 as the arbitration day.
