The Department of Correctional Services says it is in talks with security company G4S in order to get to the bottom of what transpired the day Thabo Bester allegedly died in prison. G4S is the company which is responsible for guarding the prison where Bester was jailed.
The company, G4S, insists that the man who died at the Mangaung Correctional Centre in May last year was indeed Thabo Bester. The rapist and murderer was said to have died in a fire in his cell a year ago.
It has now, however, been revealed that he is alive and out of jail and on the run with his girlfriend, Dr. Nandipha Magudumana. The re-emergence of Bester has raised the possibility of corruption within correctional services departments as well as their facilities.
It is alleged that Bester was running a company scam from within prison which means he had access to a phone, laptop and WIFI in order to carry out the scams he was pushing. He even joined in one of the celebrations of the company via video call in which everybody in attendance sang him happy birthday.
