Johann Rupert replaces Nicky Oppenheimer as SA’s richest man
This was reported on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index which updates daily according to changes in the net worth of billionaires. The list showed that Johann Rupert’s is now the world’s 241st richest person and Oppenheimer is the 245th world’s richest person
Previously Rupert was the 240th world’s richest person and Oppenheimer was the 216th person on the list that tracks the 500 world’s wealthiest people
According to Bloomberg, Rupert’s net worth is now $7.36 billion which is roughly 105 billion in South Africa rand it has grown from $6.55 billion in 2019 by $0,81 billion which is roughly R11,5 billion in one year. Meanwhile Oppenheimer now has a net worth of $7.33 billion, which is roughly 104 billion in South African Rand this is compered to $7,05 billion a year ago.
Johann Rupert founded the Swiss based Richmond out of the Remgro group founded by his father Anton Rupert. The Richemont group today operates brand labels such as Montblanc and Cartier. Oppenheimer is the former Chairman of De beers diamond mining Company and Deputy Chairman of Anglo American a Company Founded by his Grandfather.
