International travel to boost tourism.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has given the Cape Town International Airport green light to open sections of International Travel. This follows his visit to the International airport to inspect the state of readiness for international travel yesterday.
The erection of the e-gate and Thermal Imaging scanner (TIS) which detects temperature from a distance are some of the safety measures put in place to curb the spread of Coronavirus
The Capetown international Airport is among the top Three(3) Major airports connected to SA’s borders including the OR Tambo and Shaka International Airport.
The International travel will only be limited to certain countries meaning High-risk countries identified by the World Health Organisation will not be allowed to travel in South Africa.The list of approved countries will be released next week, before the
Health certificates will be required in order to enter in South Africa, Certificates showing a negative COVID-19 result and vaccine injection for different diseases.
The gradual opening of International travel will boost the Tourism sector. A sector that has been badly affected by the Covid-19 lockdown. Tourism has been experiencing a loss of over R748 Million a day in tourism expenditure and anticipating massive job loses. Businesses that are connected to Tourism will now find a way to recover after a 6 months national lockdown.
Meanwile the Western Cape premier Alan Winde urged people of the Western Cape to travel the province to help boost the buttered economy.
