Police have confirmed that a 31-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Tshegofatso Pule.
The 28-year-old woman from Meadowlands-Soweto was 8-months pregnant when she was killed and her body was found hanging from a tree with stab wounds in the chest in Roodepoort last week.
The man was on his way to Mpumalanga when police arrested him on Monday 15 June.
Gauteng Police spokesperson Noxolo Kweza said that the reason why this information is finally out in the public 48-hours after the arrest was made, highlighting that they wanted to make sure that they were not charging a wrong person, Kweza also acknowledged the community for their cooperation in nailing the accused and has appealed to the media that they allow the law to take its course without any interruptions for them to build a watertight case.
The suspect is due to appear in the Roodepoort magistrate court on Wednesday 17 June 2020.
