Eskom warns power outages might prolong.
Eskom issued a statement that stage 2 Load shedding will resume today from 12pm mid-day to 10pm .
The power utility said the system is heavily constrained, as multiple generating units have broken down in different power stations in the country. Arnot, Medupi, Lethabo, Matla power stations, Camden, Tutuka power stations also broke down and two units each at Majuba power station have also broken down. Eskom said old infrastructures were one of the challenges the power utility was facing.
Eskom also warned of unplanned outages, due to heavy demand. The current cold weather conditions in some parts of the country play a role in heavy demands of power. Eskom has urged South Africa to reduce usage and save power.
