Current Affairs

The United States Senate has reached an Unanimous agreement to ban the Tiktok Application on a 45 days period. US president Donald Trump has been battling with the Chinese owned company Byte dance in the past few weeks. Tiktok is an Application that allows users to create short videos using different sounds, filters and features. It has over 800 Million users worldwide and the US accounts for 8% of the user statistics.

The US senate says they have agreed on the ban of the Tiktok Application under the basis of User data security. Senator Josh Hawley claimed the Chinese Government  scoop all data, from Tiktok users claiming that they are monitoring the users keystrokes, contact list and emails in which they are fighting that Americans data should remain in America. The Trump administration said in an official statement that this was an effort to remove Americans from ”untrusted” Chinese companies and calling the Chinese owned company a ”Significant threat”. The US president Donald Trump said the data collection “threatens to allow the Chinese Communist Party access to Americans’ personal and proprietary information”.

US president Donald Trump is supporting the sale of Tiktok’s US operations to Microsoft Corp. CEO of Social media marketing firm social flow Jim Anderson said ”Trump’s decision to ban TikTok and WeChat is rooted in the distrust between the world’s biggest economies”. The US Senate passed a bill to ban the usage of Tiktok on Government issued devices by Federals employees.

Meanwhile Tiktok has assured users that the Chinese Tech company will not provide users data information to the Chinese government.
