The African continent has recorded over 200,000 cases of Covid-19, with South Africa as the breeding space of the Virus with over 50 000 confirmed cases.
Africa has now over 5,000 people who have succumbed to the virus, however, the continent has recorded over 90,000 recoveries and over 35 000 of them are from South Africa.
South Africa now has over 55 000 cases and the total number of deaths in the country now stands at over 1,200, however, Egypt remains the highest in COVID-19 fatalities currently standing at 1,300 out of over 34,000 cases.
The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention has started rolling out its partnership with countries that are expected to fast track procurement of tests kits, as countries like South Africa are currently facing Testing Backlog due to the high demand of testings pending to be conducted across the country as over One Million coronavirus tests have been conducted, and patients who are still waiting to be tested are sent to self-isolation.
Unlike the rest of the world, Africa is not only facing the Global pandemic but has recorded recent cases of Ebola in The Democratic Republic of Congo with 12 cases and 6 fatalities. African countries are also facing poor health facilities to meet the demand of Covid-19 patients.
To date over 7,000, 000 cases have been confirmed globally and over 420 000 fatalities have been recorded, however, the number of recoveries stands at 3,000 000.
